ABOUT US

Herts Inclusive Sports Initiative (HISI) was set up in 2021 and is based in Hertfordshire. The charity awards financial Grants and Bursaries to sports clubs, groups and individuals who work with or provide activities for people with a Disability.

READ SUCCESS STORIES

Neil has been involved in special education since 2005 and is the Headteacher of Amwell View School and Specialist Sports College which is a special school for pupils with severe learning difficulties and profound and complex needs. Neil is the founder of the charity branch Special Olympics East Herts and received recognition in 2017 with The Queen’s Golden Jubilee Award for voluntary service by groups in the community.  

NEIL WARD

Sandra has volunteered for over 20 years and has helped set up various sports clubs for children and adults with a disability.  A parent of a young person who has a diagnosis of Autism with severe learning difficulties, she is able to understand the barriers that people with a disability have to overcome in order to enjoy the sports and activities that they love.  Sandra’s goal is to make sure that our local community and county is inclusive, “because everyone should be able to achieve and be happy”.

SANDRA KING

Janet has been involved with disability swimming since 2008 when she started coaching a young Grace Harvey at Hoddesdon Swimming Club who went on to represent GB at the Paralympics.  She was appointed as the SOGB Aquatics Head Coach for the Special Olympics European Summer Games in Antwerp, Belgium in 2014. Passionate about disability sport she is proud to be a Trustee of HISI and wants to help athletes, coaches, sports clubs and groups break down barriers to participation and competition.
